Tercer finde

So I realize lately my posts haven't been that informative or interesting. I'll try and give a recap of what we did our third weekend to answer everyone's question of "what do you DO while you're in Spain?"

Friday: I got out of class at 7. YES 7. It is lame and makes me cranky. But then I went home and got ready to meet a bunch of las chicas to go out to a Mexican restaurant. You're probably thinking, "Mexican? in Spain?" Well, we thought it was a fine idea and turns out it was. Flavored margaritas and guacamole for everyone. The only thing is the menu was completely different and we had to basically ask what everything was. Afterwards, we did the barhopping thing that we do so well. Ended up at some joint called the Blue Iguana. We keep desperately trying to avoid the mature crowd, but word on the street is that they roll deep on Fridays. No such luck, but more great stories of creepy guys trying to get with American chicas.

Saturday: Pree and I went walking around the old rio which is now a really pretty park. They were playing classical music and we passed some pretty serious rollerbladers and bikers. I had to settle for walking after Pree blatantly rejected my idea of going for a run. Spanish carbs: 1 Erin: 0
Afterwards, Liz, Pree and I met up to go to a madhatter's tea party at this really cute cafe. When we sat down, the man next to us told us we weren't dressed very madhatterish. Kind of offensive, but after talking to him for a while, we realized that he was the owner of the cafe. His name is Mark and he is fabulous and from British Guyana and was there with his mother who moved to Spain to live with her son after her husband died. The two of them were the cutest people ever and I loved their British accents. We decided we're going to make the cafe one of our spots. You know, where everybody knows our name.
After we went to the labortorio, a restaurant that Mark also owns and had some drinks until we went to dinner. When we arrived to the restaurant at 10, they told us they couldn't seat us until 11:30. It was then that I knew I was finally Spanish. Afterwards, we met up with some of our Valencian friends and went to a discobar of some sort with really terrible music. Then we went back to Rafa and Ricky's apt and had the usual private concert where everyone (but me.) played instruments and sang. Then we went home at our usual hour. 5. and I slept half of Sunday away and then did homework.

Today is Tuesday and I am sitting in the cafeteria in between classes. At 7, we're going to play futbol. And then at 10:30 we're going to la noche de flamenco. I think it will be a lot of fun. I just have to find time to do homework in between all of this.
